So first you need to understand how your site appears in Google Search Result

Assume you have a website, you do keyword research, write content and then publish your post. Google then discovers your new webpage by crawling your site. After that, it adds the new page to its index list. This process is done by using a web spider or crawler which is also known as Googlebot.

Still, Confused? Let’s understand it better…..

What is GoogleBot?

Google is a Search Engine that uses a specific piece of software to collect data which is then added to the index for showing the results relevant to the user’s query. This software is called GoogleBot.

What is a web spider or crawler?

A web spider or crawler is a piece of software that carries out the process of collecting information for Google Index. GoogleBot is a crawler that visits web pages through links and submits its findings to Google Index.

What is crawling?

Crawling is a process that you can say is a discovery mission. Search Engines like Google or Bing and others send their robots (crawlers or spiders) to find new or updated content. They scour the Internet through links to gather intel which is then submitted back to Search Engines.

What is Indexing?

When all the data is gathered in one place, in this case, Google’s Index (which you can say is the Brain of Google). This process is called Indexing.

All that data is stored in one place and then served to users as per their query. But still, one thing is left, which is ranking.

What is Search Engine Ranking?

Search Engine Ranking simply refers to the position of a website in SERP (search engine results page). After Google Index any website, it ranks the pages on the basis of various different factors. When any user searches for something, Google scours its index for the content to show results on the basis of relevance to solve the searcher’s query.

Why do you need Google to index your site?

Now the answer to this question is quite obvious. If your site is not even in the Index of Google, then you cannot get any organic traffic. The best kind of traffic which really boost the authority and power of your website is getting found on Google’s first page by users.

How to check if your site is Indexed in Google?

Well, it’s pretty easy to check if your site is Indexed by Google or not. Just type site:yourwebsite.com in Google’s Search Engine and see if it shows your website.

There is one other method to check when was your website Indexed by Google. Just type cache: yourwebsite.com is the URL bar and if your website is indexed, then will show the date and time of indexing.

Note: If you want to check any specific page on your website, then you can follow the same process with that URL.

If you use Google Search Console to monitor your websites, then you can also use the URL Inspection tool to get the indexing status of your websites or pages.

How long does it take for Google to index a site?

This is quite a mystery for even experienced webmasters. For a new website, it might take from few days to few weeks. However, this theory has been challenged by many who believe they can get their website indexed soon. Harsh Agrawal of shoutmeloud has also published a case study on How to Index a Website in Google Search in 24 Hours. I myself got this very site indexed by Google within one day and I shared all my secrets in this article.

Difference between Crawling and Indexing

First, you need to understand that crawling is not the same as indexing. Think of it like this, when you go shopping, you gaze through a lot of Windows, but you don’t enter the shop. The same concept applies here. When GoogleBot come crawling your website, it only collects the data and sends it over to search engine for Indexing.

How often does Google crawl a website?

Crawling is an automatic process done by robots that are based on the quality of content, page design, links, and page rank. If a website has high-quality content and lots of traffic, then Google will crawl it more frequently. But, if your website has few or no visitors, web spiders will not crawl your site as often.

If you are a Google Search Console user, then you can check the crawl status of your website or any specific URL.

You can also inspect any URL and request indexing manually to get your blog indexed quickly.

Go to your Google Search Console account, paste your URL into the search bar, and press Enter. It will generate a report, click on the “Coverage” report to get the crawl details.

Indexing does not mean Ranking

As I mentioned earlier, Indexing is the process of submitting the data to the Search Engine’s brain. Then it is served to the users according to the relevance of their query.

So, your site is indexed, but it does not mean it will get a higher ranking. If your site is not relevant to the user’s query or does not provide any real value, then it might not get shown.

It is also possible, that your site does not even get produced in the search results after indexing. Not on the first page or any page.

When you create a website, then you will need to promote your website and content, get some traffic, and provide a good user experience. This will help increase the authority of your page and help it rank better in SERP. Using SEO to boost your website rank and traffic is highly advised.

Indexing simply means that Search Engines like Google or Bing are aware that the website exists. They will only rank your website or pages for any query if they find it relevant.

So with the help of SEO (search engine optimization) techniques like creating quality content, targeting high traffic keywords, building backlinks, etc., you can boost the ranking of your site.

How to get Google to Index your site faster

Now when you understand that your website needs to be get indexed by Google to get a higher ranking and traffic. So the question is how you can force Google to index your new website faster.

As according to Google, it might take up to four weeks for a website to get indexed. I am quite sure that you don’t want to wait that long. So I am going to share some of my secrets which you can use to get your new website indexed.

1. Create high-quality content

As you might have read or heard a lot of times, Content is the King. It is the biggest truth and if I dare to say “the biggest headache” of a blogger.

Most of the folks who start blogging think creating good content is copying someone else content and posting it as their own. It is the biggest mistake because shortcuts will not help here.

Many people also use scrapped or spun content and then hope for good ranking which is completely impractical.

Publishing lots of duplicate content on your blog will surely not help you to get your blog indexed quickly but it will do exactly the opposite.

These tactics were used to work pre-panda when Google was just a child, now it has outgrown those days. With regular algorithm updates, it keeps growing and slapping spammers with huge penalties.

So it would be very heartbreaking when you invest all the money and time just to get penalized.

My recommendation is if you want to succeed then be truthful towards your commitments.

If you want to be a successful blogger, then you must champion the art of writing good quality and original content. This is why it is often recommended to start a blog in a niche you have good knowledge of.

2. Blog more frequently

If you want Google to Index your website quickly, then creating a blog will be a very good idea. If you have already created a blog, then I suggest you publish new articles more frequently.

Blogs are the ultimate machine for generating more traffic and ranking. Highly quality, relevant, and fresh content tends to attract GoogleBots to crawl websites at a much faster rate.

Daily updates in the blog’s content will surely give good signals to Search Engines to check your website regularly. Study shows that Businesses can get 55% more visitors with regular blogging.

I know writing good content regularly could be a very hectic job, but when you compare it to the benefits you will get in return, believe me, it’s worth it.

So if you want to get your blog indexed quickly and regularly then you must publish new, original, and high-quality content on your blog at regular intervals.

3. Remove Duplicate Content

Getting your website indexed by Google is a work of art. As I always say, there are no shortcuts to success.

So in the beginning, you have made the mistake of copying some article and publishing it on your blog/website, then remove it ASAP.

Duplicate content not only downgrade your website’s reputation but can also get it penalized.

Instead of finding a way to get your site indexed on Google, you will be looking for ways to recover your site from penalty.

Before it gets too late you might want to get straight. It might a big challenge to write good blog posts daily, so make it twice or once a week.

Maintain your schedule, publish regularly and avoid duplicate content. There is no rule about publishing daily.

Most six-figure bloggers don’t publish content daily. They manage an editorial calendar and publish content at regular intervals.

If you find yourself in a position where you cannot write good content, you can always freelance.

4. Create mobile friendly webpages

Mobile-first indexing is quite a game changer, my friend. If your pages are not mobile friendly then they will not rank well on mobile devices.

Although, a desktop copy is indexed and served when the mobile-friendly copy of any page does not exist. However, it significantly downgrades the ranking of those pages on mobile devices.

So it would be best to optimize your pages to deliver mobile-friendly pages on mobile devices. If you are using WordPress as your CMS, then you can use a mobile-friendly theme to solve this issue.

You can also use plugins like AMP or AMP for WP to turn your entire website mobile-friendly. It however messes with designing but surely increases the speed of your website on mobile devices.

If you don’t want to compromise with design, then you should choose a fast and mobile-friendly WordPress theme.

Mobile-first indexing is going to be a major ranking signal in 2022, so if you want to get your blog indexed quickly and rank higher, then optimize your site for mobile devices.

5. Boost your Website Speed

Website speed is believed to be a major ranking factor. Chances of indexing also get increased in terms of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP).

I want to ask you a question. How much time do you generally give a website to load while searching the Internet?

I am very impatient when it comes to site load speed (I normally hit reload almost every other second). Generally, it’s the same for every user. Nobody wants to wait. If your site is slow, they will move on.

This little problem can cost you lots of potential visitors and also deem your site unworthy of ranking in Google’s Eye. It will increase the bounce rate and certainly affect your ranking in SERP.

Google will eventually stop crawling and indexing your site due to its slow speed. So it is very important to optimize your website for speed, especially for mobile devices.

There are tools like GTmetrix, Google PageSpeed Insights, and Pingdom that you can check your site if it feels slow. You can perform necessary modifications to boost website speed.

6. Create a Good navigation menu

Creating good navigation could be the key to a better user experience. It could also make your site ideal for crawling as GoogleBots use links to collect information about new articles.

Divide content on your website according to proper categories. Mention those categories in the primary menu. Add your most important article to the navigation, use breadcrumbs, add a related articles section at the end of blog posts, and keep your site simple and blog consistently.

Incorporate widgets like Recent articles or Most famous articles to engage your visitors. Making the structure of your website easy to understand for users and GoogleBot is also very important.

Making your site easy to understand really helps a lot to get Google to index your website quickly.

7. Use Internal Linking

Interlinking your pages is very important if you want Google to index your site quickly.

Make sure to create a proper hypertext link on your blog content to link to other related articles. It is important to provide value to your readers and engage them to achieve more page views.

GoogleBots also use links to crawl your site for new articles, so all your pages are well connected then chances are robots will crawl all the news at once.

If your homepage is indexed by Google but you have not linked your post pages correctly, they might not get indexed soon.

In such a case, your homepage might be tagged as a valuable piece of content for Google, but post pages will not have similar value. So it is very important to link all your pages to gain visitor engagement and the conversion flow.

Users and robots work in the same fashion. Once they reach one page on your site, they will exit that page if any other important details are not provided. With proper internal linking, you can encourage both to explore more pages on your site for detailed information.

This will certainly increase the likelihood of all your individual pages getting crawled and indexed by Google more frequently.

8. Remove Nofollow Tags from Internal Links

Many people who already made magnificent internal linking structures might get crawling and indexing issues. This is because they use “Nofollow” tags in their internal links.

It is a bad practice that will not give you the kind of results you are hoping for. If you want Google to index your website regularly then you should fix this problem.

The main purpose of linking all the pages on your sites is to evenly distribute the value to all your contents. Using the rel=“nofollow” tag is like giving the instruction to search engine robots to skip that link and not crawl it at all.

So if you are making hypertext links like <a href=”www.yoursite.com/example-post” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”>Example Post</a>, then stop doing it now. It will not transfer the link juice to other page you are trying to link.

Instead you can use <a href=”www.yoursite.com/example-post” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Example Post</a> tag, because it will pass on the link juice and open that link in new tab. So users won’t have to quit one page to read another and the value is also passed equally.

9. Create a Sitemap

The name sitemap explains it all. It is simply a navigational map of your website with all its links which can be read by web spiders to crawl your site.

When you are running a blog, and publishing a lot of high-quality content for your users, you want all your new content to get indexed and ranked quickly. So creating a sitemap will ensure that once robots came crawling your site, all your links are properly managed for faster indexing.

The primary function of a sitemap is to generate a list of all the links to blog posts published on your site. It also carries the data of publish and data of updates, so when robots crawl your site, they can gather fresh data.

This will help your articles get indexed more frequently, because when crawlers will submit the data of your updated blog posts, Google will index more recent information.

Creating a sitemap is fairly easy. If you are using SEO plugins like Yoast or Rank Math, they generate their own sitemap.

The Latest WordPress update also included a default sitemap for your website. You can also use plugins like Google XML Sitemaps to create a custom sitemap for your website.

Pro Tips: You can also ping your sitemaps to search engines like Google and Bing manually to get your blog indexed quickly.

Google – https://www.google.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

Bing – http://www.bing.com/ping?sitemap=https://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

10. Submit sitemap to Google Search Console

Google Search Console is the one tool that is undoubtedly the first choice of every webmaster. It will help you get your blog indexed from the very first day.

If I have to use only one tool for SEO then I will always choose Search Console. This one tool can make wonders happen if you know how to use it.

Creating a sitemap is a fairly simple process but submitting it search console is even easier. You have to do it only once and every time you publish a new article, it will get added to the list for crawlers to visit.

Google Search Console is an amazing tool through which can monitor all the important details about your website like traffic overview, site performance, when did Google last crawl your sites, how many URLs are indexed, coverage issues, manual actions, and much more.

To submit your sitemap to the search console, open it and click on the Sitemaps option, then insert the URL and hit submit button.

11. Use Search Console’s Request Indexing Feature

Google’s Search Console is an amazing tool that every webmaster should use. As I told you already, submitting a sitemap is a good way to notify Google bots to crawl your website whenever you publish a new article.

But you can also submit individual URLs for indexing manually.

Yes, this feature has come back. It was stopped for a brief period, but now it’s back.

Write good long and unique content, add all the relevant images and hit publish button. Then go to Search Console and request indexing.

How to do that? Buddy if you don’t know how to request then simply go to Search Console, select your property (site), then you will see a search bar on top.

Paste your URL there and then hit Enter button on your keyboard. It will take some time to gather details about that URL. Now you can see a Request Indexing button, click on that, and viola.

It is simply the best way to get your blog post indexed quickly. All the major players (of blogging) use this trick.

Pro Tip: You can pick one of your best-performing articles, add a bunch of links to another article that you want to rank (interlinking), and then request it for indexing.

If any article is performing well, then Google surely loved it, so if you give interlink that article to the new post, then spiders will crawl all those links. It could speed up the indexing process.

12. Get your site indexed by other Search Engine

Since Google is being used by approximately 90% of people in the world, it is quite obvious that you want to optimize your website to rank higher on Google.

You want Google to instantly index your new website to get more visitors and grow your business.

But if you want to get Google to Index Your Site then you should also get your site indexed by other Search Engines.

When Google will detect that your site got indexed by other popular search engines such as Bing, Yahoo, and others, it will also take some interest in your site too.

You simply have to submit your sitemaps to the Search Console of Bing or Yahoo as you did with Google Search Console.

You don’t have to do anything else like making changes in your content or SEO strategy, just submit the sitemap to all the Search Engines you can think of.

13. Set up a robots.txt file

As the name specifies that it is a file created to be read by search engine robots. This file contains the instructions about how GoogleBots can crawl pages on your website.

It simply tells web crawlers that which pages or files can or can’t be requested from your site.

Keep in mind that this robots.txt file is not created to keep any web page or file out of Google indexing. For that purpose, you will need to use the noindex tag strictly.

A robots.txt file should be created in the root directory of your site. For example, if you have a site named “www.mysite.com”, then the path of the robots.txt file should be “www.example.com/robots.txt”.

User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

Sitemap: https://www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml

Explanation:

  • User-agent is Google’s crawl robot and * represents all the robots.
  • Disallow function is used to block the crawling of any specific page or path.
  • Allow represents that robots can access all the posts and other contents on your site.
  • The sitemap file location is mentioned for the ease for Google robots to access the sitemap.

14. Remove Misplaced Noindex Tags

As I mentioned above, a noindex tag tells Google robots to prevent the indexing of a page while the crawling process.

If your pages are not being indexed by Google, then it could be because you have instructed it not to.

While designing your website, you might have used noindex tag on some pages to duplicate content or pages that are under construction, or pages which are only meant to be opened after users take a certain action.

In such cases, people often forget to remove the noindex tags, which can prevent Google from indexing those pages.

To solve this issue, you can use SEO plugins Yoast or RankMath to switch noindex pages to index or you can do it manually.

For the manual method, go to the section of your page and then change the noindex value to index.

15. Use Table of the Content

Writing extremely long and explained content is always suggested for better ranking.

It might make your site look good in Google’s eyes (wait… Google doesn’t have eyes, it has robots).

But your visitors are not going to read the whole article. They feel bored, so they might bounce back and look for another article.

This will really increase the Bounce rate and diminish the reputation of your site.

It is a major problem, if you want to optimize your content for Google, your visitors might not like it, But if you write shorter content, the chances of ranking are zero to none.

So what you are going to do that can hook your audience right when they land on your site? I have an answer for that.

You can create a Table of the content which includes all the important points of your article. If the users want, they can easily navigate to any point they want to read.

Better user experience means less bounce rate and that will result in Google indexing your site regularly.

16. Update your Old posts regularly

If you want Google to re-crawl your old posts and get them indexed, then you need to update them.

Creating high-quality content is important but you need to keep your old posts updated.

Every time you update content, the date of the last update changes in your sitemap. It sends a signal to crawl that page again.

As a blogger, who is active in their niche, you learn something different every day which can help your readers better understand the topic.

As time passes, you need to make those changes in your old posts, so that your visitors don’t have to go looking for other sources of knowledge they are seeking.

Most famous bloggers take time from their busy schedules to update their old blog posts because they want to maintain their position at the top.

If they are doing it, then you must do the same. Improving your articles constantly and adding more value, send a strong signal to Google to crawl and index the site more frequently.

17. Build High-Quality Backlinks

Creating high-quality original content is not the only thing you are going to need to get indexed by Google.

Backlinks are called the kingmakers in SEO. If you have lots of high-quality backlinks then you can outrank your competitor very easily.

Making backlinks is not an easy task, it takes time but trusts me it’s worth it. With the right amount of high-quality backlinks, you can force google to index your site more quickly.

Most of the big bloggers put more time and effort into making backlinks than they do in writing content. So if you want to get your blog indexed quickly then start making some quality backlinks.

Backlinks simply tell Google that this page is important. More backlinks mean more important page and that result in frequent indexing.

I not saying you leave the writing part and start making backlinks right away. First, create some good content then spend some time creating backlinks.

A combination of good content and high-quality backlinks will boost your site crawl rate and indexing in no time.

18. Block Low-Quality Pages from Indexing

Do you know that your site has a crawl budget? If you start creating pages with little or no value (they probably have no chance of ranking in SERP) they eat up your crawl budget.

It may be possible that your website has pages that you don’t want to get indexed in Google or found on search engines like admin pages, service pages, shopping cart or sales pages, and others.

These pages should be blocked from indexing or they will bring a negative impact on your site.

Google might cut short the crawl budget of your site which can result in slow indexing of your website.

You can remove those low-quality pages from your site. It can speed up your website and even increase the indexing rate.

If those pages are essential and getting traffic then you can block the crawling through the robots.txt file.

19. Ping your website

Pinging your new website could be a real good way to alert Search Engines about new blog posts.

When you ping your website, search engines get alerted immediately about the new content on your site.

A new blog might be harder to find even for Search engines, so you will have to take initiative to let them about your hard work.

Once you write a new piece of article, then take some time to ping it, just to notify them to take look at your site. This is a really good way to get Google to index your site quickly.

The good thing for you is, that there are a lot of good pinging services available for free like Pingomatic, Pingoat, Pingler, and others which can really boost your website indexing by Google.

Note: Pinging is a good idea but don’t overdo it. It might make your site look like spam. Only ping your website when you post a new piece of article or make any major update.

20. Create Social media profile

Social Media is one of the biggest tools you can have for free to promote your website or blog.

Amount of people active on social media these days makes it a perfect tool to earn some credit and visits for your website.

Creating profiles for your site on various social media platforms can help you to get Google to index your website faster.

Most of the reputed social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube have major traffic and they allow you to put your website link in your profile.

You can add the link to your homepage in your profile which will create a powerful backlink and it’s also easy to discover. People might click on it and land on your website.

21. Promote your Content on Social Media

You spend a lot of time creating a nice long article but what is it worth when no one is going to reach it?

It might take some time for Google to index your sites, even after that ranking is another issue.

So until you get ranked on page 1, you will have no visitors at all.

There is a way around it. You can share your articles on your Social Media profile.

Nowadays everyone is pretty active on social media, I am sure you also have lots of friends there.

You can share your post on your profile or page, there is a high probability that people will find it and visit your website.

Ask your friends to share your posts or articles on their profiles and this would start a chain reaction that will give a pretty good initial boost to your website that will in faster indexing.

22. Promote Social sharing of your content

As I said, social media is a very good source of traffic and you need to leverage it.

Sharing your blog posts on your social media profile is not enough. You need to encourage your visitors to share your articles on their social media accounts as well.

You can use plugins like Easy Social Sharing or MashShare Social Media Share Buttons to display social sharing icons on your post and pages. Your visitors can easily share the article with a single click.

You should also use the Better Click To Tweet plugin to encourage users to share Quotes and links from your blog post while reading the article.

If you have a loyal group of readers who happens to like your writing they will share your articles for sure.

People do appreciate good work and often show their gratitude by sharing. So try to leverage it because it boosts the indexing of your site.

23. Collaborate with other bloggers

Collaboration is something that you should not ignore especially when you are new to blogging.

You should reach out to other bloggers in your niche, and ask them to link your site to their articles.

You might not get success in the first attempt but keep trying. It’s a quid pro quo method to make some quick and easy backlinks.

You link them to your blog posts and they will return the favor. It’s a win-win for everyone right?

Whichever niche you have chosen to start a blog, believe me, there are people like you who are trying very hard to get google to index their site fast just like you.

You approaching someone might present a golden opportunity for both of you to get what you want.

Healthy competition is good for everyone but an initial boost is necessary, so don’t let your pride get in the way of making good relations with your competitors.

24. Go for Guest Posting

Guest posting is great for making backlinks but it’s also very good for brand promotion.

Ask other bloggers in your niche for the Guest post. This will introduce you to their audience. If they like your content, they will surely check out your blog.

You will get some backlinks through Guest posting and you can also publish that same article on your blog later.

People will start searching for your brand or website name on Google and traffic from there will increase the crawling on your site.

This initial traffic will increase the reputation of your site which will surely force Google to index your website.

25. Content Syndication

As you know now that traffic on your site from any source is a good way to get your site crawling by Google robots.

Content syndication is another great option to share your article which will increase the traffic to your site.

You need to share your content on high-traffic sites like Medium, StumbleUpon, ScoopIt, etc. because they have a pretty big community and fan base. Sharing your article can give your site initial exposure.

You can also take part in discussions and help other people to make them to your site for information.

26. Join Forums and Help others

Blogging is not only about on-page SEO, you will need to put some extra effort to get popular.

The best way of doing that is to help others. Join popular forums and answer people’s questions according to your niche.

Use Reddit, Quora, inbound.org, qsans.com, and similar Q&A Websites to reach out to your potential readers.

Join dedicated forums according to questions that people normally ask according to your niche.

This cannot only give you backlinks but also increase the chances of Google crawling and indexing your website more frequently.

27. Google Indexing API

Google Search Console has temporarily blocked the request indexing feature which made a lot of bloggers sad. But Worry not, because Google Indexing API does exactly the same.

Google and Bing both launched their Indexing APIs recently which massively speed up the crawling and indexing.

Although Bing API allows all types of newly published or updated URLs, Google API insists on being used for the use of “either job posting or Livestream structured data.”

However, after extensive research and self-experiment, I found that it could be used for all content types. RankMath SEO plugin supports my theory and it is also the first WordPress SEO Plugin to use Google Indexing API.

You can also use the Google Indexing API plugin to get Google To index your Website instantly.

28. Use paid ads to generate traffic

Promoting your newly published articles could be a very good way to bring instant traffic to your website.

Although it is highly controversial that traffic is used as an indexing or ranking signal. But according to my experience, if your website is getting traffic, then Google thinks it’s important.

If Google is interested in your website then it will surely index your pages to see if it delivers useful information to the users.

In such a case, you can easily get what you wanted all along, to get your website indexed by Google.

It is a neat trick that worked for me, so I think you should give it a try. You can use Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, or YouTube Ads to drive quality traffic in your niche.

29. Generate search clicks

This one is a bit different from what you have been doing in the past. You don’t have to bring direct traffic to any of your URLs. Instead, you are going to make people search for it and then make them visit your website.

Confused much? Well, it’s a simple but rather very effective method. First, you have to find any of the articles on your website which is ranking at the top.

Then instead of sharing the link to that article on your social media profiles like Twitter or Facebook, you need to share the search result.

For example, if you are sharing

1. https://www.yoursite.com/example-post

then you need to replace it with

2. https://www.google.com/search?q=example+post+keyword

This will make Google think that users are coming to your website through the search result. It will definitely boost your Click-through-rate (CTR) and help you rank for the related terms.

If you are generating a good amount of traffic through this method, then Google will put your site on the priority list and your articles will get indexed regularly.

30. Set Up an RSS Feed

First of all What is RSS Feed?

If you don’t know about this term, then you should know that it is an automated feed that constantly gets updated (automatically) whenever you publish a new piece of article on your blog.
